By Israeli artist Enya Keshet.
This delicate and intricate Ketubah marriage contract is a limited edition of 250 copies that are signed and numbered.
"Creating this Ketubah I came closer than ever to being an apprentice at the Lisbon Judaic manuscript workshop of the 15th Century.
It is a mission I carry: to revive this workshop's great tradition, which was so abruptly terminated with the expulsion of Spanish Jewry.
In my designs, I combine the Old School with my own inspiration, tying the tradition with the art of our day.
Note the kite-shaped color areas in the red border, under the thin-line gold vines; the dark red ink-line floral areas above and under the text; the varying imaginary fruits and flowers on the entwining vines and the small calligraphy in the semicircles.
All these have sources in our artistic tradition."
